Elizabeth Edwards recognized for achievements integrating behavioral science research and insight with marketing, PR and integrated communication strategies

Greenwood Village, Colorado (Nov. 1) Pepperdine University has named Elizabeth Edwards, founder and president of Volume Public Relations, as one of its 2016 “40 Under 40” honorees, selected from among hundreds of alumni nominations consisting of young entrepreneurs, business executives, doctors, lawyers, educators and public servants.

This is the inaugural year for the Pepperdine list, which was created to recognize professionals “innovating in their fields, inspiring their communities, and leading by example.” Edwards was chosen in large part based on the unique approach Volume PR takes to incorporating scientific and behavioral insights into integrated communication, marketing and public relations programs.

“Audiences are hard-wired to respond positively to messages that resonate with their core beliefs or needs,” Edwards said. “But very few marketers or communication professionals utilize behavioral science-based techniques to identify those key motivators. At Volume, we’ve developed an approach that views every communication program through a scientific lens to leverage this powerful knowledge on behalf of clients.”

A 1999 graduate of the Pepperdine’s Seaver College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Communication, Edwards began her career at Boeing’s Rocketdyne Propulsion and Power Division, then transitioned to agency service with Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide before launching Volume PR.

“It’s a tremendous honor to be recognized for the way Volume is proactively seeking to merge marketing and PR communication principles with behavioral science principles,” she said, “as well as to be the only integrated communication and PR agency in the nation to do so.”

Pepperdine University has top-ranked programs for graduate and undergraduate studies, with separate schools dedicated to business, education and psychology, law, liberal arts, and public policy. At Pepperdine, purpose, service and leadership is a way of life, reflected in the impact and achievements of more than 100,000 extraordinary alumni around the globe. The inaugural 40 Under 40 list represents just a sample of Pepperdine University alumni’s incredible stories.
